The Spanish edition of Edwin Fontánez’s debut novel, El bosque iluminado, was a Finalist in the category “Best Young Adult Fiction Book – Spanish” and the winner in the category “Best Cover Design” for the 2017 International Latino Book Awards. Presented by Latino Literacy Now, an organization co-founded by Edward James Olmos and Kirk Whisler, and co-presented by Las Comadres de las Americas, and Reforma, the National Association to Promote Library and Information Services to Latinos, past recipients have included Carlos Santana, Sheila E, Richard Blanco, Isabel Allende, and many others. Over the last 18 years, the ILBA has grown to become the largest Latino literary and cultural awards in the U.S.
