THE PROJECT

Inspired by an essay in his memoir of the same name, Exit Studio is producing a short film in collaboration with Foreground Productions. Currently in pre-production, filming is planned to take place in Puerto Rico in July 2026.

THE STORY

One Last Song for My Father is a very personal story that goes all the way back to the author’s childhood, six years old to be exact. It tells the story of a restless boy who tries to find a connection with his father, often in chaotic ways. These attempts are misinterpreted by his parents as the behavior of an incorrigible child out of control. The boy’s burgeoning artistic talents go unnoticed by his parents, who fail to recognize the imaginative and creative nature of their son. The boy’s repeated attempts to find connection finally pay off when, one morning on the way to work, his father takes the time to stop and create a simple moment that will live in his memory forever.
