The Art of Edwin Fontánez for Exit Studio

Long before Edwin Fontánez became an award-winning author, illustrator, and graphic designer—and long before he realized his life’s dream of creating Exit Studio—his artistic nature manifested itself at a very tender age. At six years old he began “decorating” his grandmother Ramona’s walls with rustic yet observational themes. With naïve drawings, the child began to shape his creative destiny.

Fontánez’s long creative trajectory finally acquired a new voice and deeper perspective when his pictorial art was joined with his literary vision.

After more than 25 years of uninterrupted creativity, and for the first time, Exit Studio is opening its vault of Fontánez’s vast and richly varied original art in an impressive showcase of illustrations that have infused his written works with the heat, vibrancy, and tropical color of his native Puerto Rico. El arte de Edwin Fontánez para Exit Studio

Mucho antes de que Edwin Fontánez se convirtiera en un galardonado escritor, ilustrador, y diseñador gráfico —y mucho antes de que él descubriera su sueño de crear Exit Studio— su naturaleza artística comenzó a manifestarse a una tierna edad. A los seis años, Fontánez comenzó a “decorar” las paredes de la casa de su abuela paterna, Doña Ramona, con “temas” rústicos pero observacionales. Por medio de esos ingenuos dibujos, el niño comenzó a trazar su destino artístico.

La larga trayectoria artística de Fontánez por fin adquirió una nueva voz y una perspectiva aún más profunda cuando su arte pictórico se fundió con su visión literaria.

Después de 25 años de ininterrumpida actividad artística, y por primera vez, Exit Studio ha abierto el arca del vasto y ricamente variado trabajo original de Fontánez en una deslumbrante muestra de ilustraciones las cuales han infundido su trabajo escrito con el calor, vibra, y  color tropical de su nativo Puerto Rico. ¡Que lo disfrutes!
